Joep'The power of music is to evoke strong emotions through atmospheres that can only be created through the medium of sound.'

Joep Verheijen is a Dutch composer with a focus in composition for orchestral music and music for various ensembles.

He creates atmospheres through music, by exploring the depth and richness of color of musical instruments. From a full symphony orchestra to a church organ, always pushing the limits to find the most powerful way to tell a story.

His musical inspirations are very broad. Mostly coming from the classical world, his harmonic language is inspired by late romantic composers such as Cesar Franck, Claude Debussy, Marcel Dupre and Olivier Messiaen. He incorporates these inspirations and combines them with influences from modern film composers, such as Joe Hisaishi and John Williams.

He has composed music for animations and films being featured on film festivals across Europe. He also composes and arranges for concert band and percussion ensemble, with various pieces and arrangements having been premiered by the ensembles of Volharding Huissen. In 2024 his first big organ work was premiered on the great Walcker organ of Doesburg.

In 2025 Joep completed his bachelor's degree at the conservatory of ArtEZ in Arnhem. For his final project he produced a conceptual film where he discovers the connection between architecture and music through atmosphere.
